Velvet Amsterdam offers comfortable, high-quality private rooms for visitors looking to stay in one of the most beautiful and historic parts of the city. Located in a charming canal house dating back to 1930, our home sits in the heart of Amsterdam, along one of its oldest and most picturesque canals.

We have two lovely rooms available, both situated on the first floor of our four-story apartment:


Canal View Room.

Located at the front of the building, this elegant room offers stunning panoramic views of the canal. It’s the perfect spot to relax and watch life along the water. The room is equipped with air-conditioning for your comfort and features a private ensuite bathroom, a quality king-size bed, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light.


Rear Room.

Positioned at the quieter back side of the house, this spacious room also features a private ensuite bathroom and a king-size bed. Designed for comfort and large windows that let in plenty of natural light..


Each of our rooms is cozy yet elegant, thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind. Large windows bring the outside in, connecting you with the beauty of Amsterdam’s surroundings.

Our home is located at Oudezijds Voorburgwal 10, right in the medieval heart of Amsterdam. We're just a 5-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, making it incredibly easy to reach us from anywhere.

Nearby attractions include:

  • The Flower Market
  • Kalverstraat (famous shopping street)
  • Nieuwmarkt
  • The Red Light District
  • Anne Frank House (15-minute walk)
  • Museum Square (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum. Several tram lines stop close to the museum from Amsterdam Central, or a 30 minute walk

From Central Station, you’ll also have access to local trams, buses, and national/international trains, making it easy to explore not only Amsterdam but beyond.


Discover the History of the Velvet Rampart.

Oudezijds Voorburgwal is one of Amsterdam’s oldest canals, dug between 1342 and 1380. Historically known as Fluwelen Burgwal ("Velvet Rampart"), it was named after the wealthy residents who lived here—often dressed in luxurious velvet as a sign of status.

Many of the historic canal houses have been beautifully restored, including the Leeuwenburgh (Lion Fortress) House next door. Just a few steps away, you’ll find Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder (Our Lord in the Attic)—a remarkably preserved 17th-century home with a secret Catholic church hidden in the attic, built during a time when public worship was forbidden.

    It’s just a 4-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station to our property.

    No, On average, the hourly rate for parking in the city center is around €7. However, this rate can rise to as much as €9 per hour during peak periods.

    You can outsite the city center by Google Park and Ride (P+R) is cheap and you can take tram back to the city
